We were recommended to Gilbert and Moira by a mutual friend, who was the medical social worker at the home care department of IU Health. Gilbert was gradually becoming more reliant on his wheelchair. They wanted to age-in-place and already had an excellent ramp built in their garage. They turned their attention to their master bathroom. It featured a hydro-therapy bathtub that Moira used, and a small shower stall that was getting harder for Gilbert to use. We designed a long curbless shower with a bench and freestanding shower chair either of which Gilbert can access from his wheelchair. Because we eliminated Moira’s bathtub, we replaced the tub/shower in their second bathroom with a new hydro-therapy bathtub for her.
